Micros in 2010

Our First race this year for the Micro Sprints will be Mach 13th, this is a non-points race and the first of the Firestone Series events scheduled for this year.
I'm looking forward to the start of the season at GMP and with all the new cars and drivers it will be a great year filled with strong competition and tough battles.
Last year when we started our first full season at GMP we had 3 cars, as the season progressed we gained more cars and events. this season starting out we should have around 10 cars to start!! ;D thanks to Ronald Parker and all the track workers for helping in this goal.
I'm glad to help in any way that I can with drivers getting in with info and parts, just give me a call. 251-510-1774.
Also don't forget I am a Hoosier Tires dealer and will be selling alcohol this year as well, my prices are below retail to save on money.
For prices on Tires please visit our website at
www.southernmicrosprints.com ( you must be a registered user to see the "Hoosier tire deal" link )
Alcohol will be sold as needed just call me before the race and I will bring what you need ( $4.00 a gallon ).

God Bless and we'll see you there on March 13th

Welcome 2010

E-mail Print PDF

Here we are, 2010 and looking forward to a great year. I hope everyone has had a great Holiday season maybe Santa has saw fit to bring you a new set of Hoosiers or a few extra gallons of Methanol :) one would only hope.

2010 is shaping up to be a great year for the Micros in our area, we have some great racers who have joined last season and will be back with us for 2010 with new cars and renewed enthusiasm. Our schedule will mainly consist of racing at GMP again although. as with 2009 we ended up racing at a few different tracks and had a blast doing it, I'm not sure exactly what our monthly schedule will look like but I would like to open up the forum to our members and asking what their prepared to do as far as traveling and the amount of races in the 2010 season. first off is the Winter Nationals in Florida, Bill the track owner at Sumter has posted a schedule of events on microracing.coms forum section here is the post ( HERE ). if you can make it its a great show and we always have a blast.

There is a 250 class is Florida that has quite a few cars racing ( 13-16 ) what looks like only Saturday, these cars are the same as a 270 only the engine is a stock bore and stroke. there have been a few northerners that expressed interest in attending but the exact car count will be a crap shoot. I've attended every Winternationls since 2004 and by Feb. I'll be ready to hit the track in one form or fashion. I do plan on having a 250 motor available or 270 whichever is needed to make a good field.

2010 At GMP will consist of racing twice a month GMP and 3 extra races at GMP ( March 13th ), Flomaton ( May 29th ) Minge ( Sept 4th ) for their firestone series also there are tracks and events that are likely to pop up in 2010 i.e.. Why, Flomaton, Wilsons, Minge ect. I'd like to open up a discussion in the forum about what our schedule should look like and what everyone would like to do for 2010. click on the "Discussion Forum" on the left and GOTO 2010 Schedule to weigh in.

In the off season there are a few things that are a must for getting your car back on track without issues, mainly dealing with the fuel and hoses, suspension is very important too with greasing up all the joints and bars. if you have questions feel free to ask in the forum so that we all can be better prepared for the start of the season.

Hope all is doing well, good luck in 2010.

Wilson's Update

The Wilson's Micro Sprint Class held their annual before-season meeting Sunday, Feb. 22nd.
Drivers came from all directions to attend.

Here are the results from the meeting

First and formost, we want to thank Billy and Marcia Wilson for letting us race
at Wilson's Motorsports Park.  (Great people and nice facility's!)

  Rules:

  (1)  Arm restraints are mandatory
  (2)  Cone Rule--  Bring out caution; go to the rear
  (3)  Spin Rule--  Spin 3 times; off track
  (4)  Wreck Rule--  Two tangle;  both go to rear
  (5)  Spin on Intent is ok to avoid T-bone
  (6)  Tire Rule-- None
  (7)  Heat #1 winner will roll die to invert field
for feature.  If 12 or more cars, the
invert will be in rows, up to first 6.

  Payout:

Same as the last few years.
  Payback entire field.

  Points:

We will be racing for points this year.  Top 3 will be
presented with Trophy.  Top driver will also recieve
a Wilson's Motorsports jacket.  All races are single
points races, but only 15, any 15 will count.  This
is done so drivers can miss a few races, if need be.

It was mentioned that drivers should wave hand if
going off track or caution appears, to notify drivers behind.

Trophy Dash Race is Nov. 7th.  If the driver has not won
a feature you may enter this race.

  Still working on money runs.

Micro Sprint season starts March 28th.

  Thanks,
              #38 Old Man
                  Joe Atkins

P.S. The track will be selling 50/50 tickets this year
for $1.00, so buy a few!
